Amjad Shoaib is a retired three-star ranking general of the Pakistani Army, who served as the 35th Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Pakistan Army. Lieutenant-General Muhammad Saeed succeeded him in the role on September 8, 2021.
The Chief of General Staff is in charge of operations and intelligence at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. Abbas was commissioned into the Baloch Regiment’s 41st Battalion.
He formerly held the positions of Commandant School of Infantry and Tactics in Quetta, Division Commander in Murree, Brigadier in the Operations Directorate, and Private Secretary to the former Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif.
He was apprehended from his flat in the federal capital by police from the Ramna Police station.

Amjad Shoaib completes his schooling at local schools. After schooling, he went to college for graduation. After graduation, he starts preparing for Army officer.
In 1987 he join Army with the rank of Second Lieutenant. He became Lieutenant in 1988 and after a year posted as captain. Amjad was promoted in 1996 to major in the Pakistan army. In 2005, he became Lieutenant Colonel. In September 2011 he became a Brigadier.
He was Promoted to Major General in February 2015. In 2019 he became Lieutenant General.

Islamabad Police arrested Shoaib on suspicion of inciting public dissent against government institutions. According to reports, Ramna Police station personnel apprehended Lt Gen (retd) Amjad at his apartment in the federal capital.
A First Information Report (FIR) was filed against the former army officer following his televised interview at the Ramna Police Station. According to police sources, the FIR was filed under sections 153A and 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
According to the FIR, Shuaib incited people to revolt against institutions during his television interview. Officers have him locked up at the police station.
