Audrey Hale, a 28-year-old who is believed to have been a former student of the school. Nashville police said on Monday that “resentment” may have been a reason why Hale opened fire at her own former school and killed three children and three adults.
She had no previous criminal record but in the CCTV footage from the school, released by the police, the 28-year-old can be seen driving to the school in a silver Honda Fit and then shooting at two glass doors.

The Nashville school shooting victims were identified as nine-year-olds Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, and adults Cynthia Peak, 61; Katherine Koonce, 60; and Mike Hill, 61.
Cyrus Vatandoost, the President and CEO of Nossi College of Art & Design in Nashville informed ABC News that a former student named Hale graduated from the institution in 2022.
Vatandoost expressed his condolences to the families affected by the recent tragedy and described Hale as a skilled artist and a dedicated student during her time at the school.
Although a Facebook post announcing an academic award received by Hale has since been deleted, it was confirmed that she enjoyed video games, movies, and sports, and had a passion for spending time with animals.
Hale’s LinkedIn profile also revealed that she previously worked for the grocery delivery company Shipt as a cat sitter.
The Covenant School, established in 2001, is a private Presbyterian institution in Nashville serving approximately 200 students from pre-K through sixth grade.

Audrey Hale, a 28-year-old former Covenant School student who committed a deadly shooting at the school on Monday, meticulously prepared the attack.
Chief John revealed that Hale’s parents, who lived in the same house as the shooter, allegedly stated that Hale was seeking medical treatment for an “emotional condition.”

It has been confirmed that Hale used to identify as transgender. A source close to the family told The Daily Beast that Hale was autistic, but high-functioning. “And relatively recently announced she was transgender, identifying as he/him,” the source revealed.
Just like the family source confirmed, Hale’s Instagram page, which has now been deleted, used the name Aiden.
