Henderson was born on born 10 September 1997 and raised in Smiths Falls, Ontario, she learned golf from an early age at the Smiths Falls Golf and Country Club.
Her parents are both experienced players, while her uncle Tom Henderson competed frequently for many years at the top amateur level in the Ottawa area. Henderson’s sister Brittany Henderson, older by seven years, was also a top junior and college golfer.
She graduated from Smiths Falls District Collegiate Institute in June 2014.
Henderson won the Canadian Women’s Amateur in 2013, and finished runner-up at the 2014 U.S. Women’s Amateur. While still an amateur, she won three events on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour and finished tied for 10th place in the U.S. Women’s Open at age 16.
She won numerous amateur tournaments and was the top-ranked female amateur golfer in the world before turning professional in December 2014, passing up the chance to play college scholarship golf.
Brooke Mackenzie Henderson is a Canadian-born golfer who is ranked 10th in the world at the start of 2022. She turned Pro in 2014 as a 17-year old and has since won ten tournaments, including a Major, the 2016 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

Brooke Mackenzie Henderson was born on September 10, 1997, in Smith Falls, Ontario. Southwest of the Canadian capital, Ottawa. She is the youngest child of Dave and Darlene Henderson and the younger sister of Brittany.
Dave coaches Brooke, while Brittany, who also played competitive golf at College, is on her bag.
Henderson started swinging a golf club at the age of 3 because she wanted to play with her dad and sister. When she was fourteen, she bagged her first professional tournament trophy by winning the 2012 Beloeil Golf Club event on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour.
She went on to win a few additional CN Canadian Women’s Tour events before testing her skills in the LPGA as an amateur. As a 16-year old, Brooke managed to finish in a tie for tenth at the 2014 US Women’s Open, seven shots behind eventual champion Michelle Wie.
In total, she competed in eight LPGA events as an amateur, making the cut in six and earning a top 10. Her form as a teenager catapulted her to world number one Amateur.
