She was married to Rony Rogoff, an Israeli violinist; the couple had a daughter and a son. Their relationship ended in 2008 after 20 years of marriage. She also had another son, her eldest, from a previous relationship with actor Leo Martinez.

Shortly after their separation, Gil’s two children with Rogoff would be under their father’s custody in Israel while Gil’s eldest son would remain with her in the Philippines. All three children would eventually reside in the United States.

Gil reportedly reconciled with ex-husband Rogoff in 2021 with both deciding to be “companions” to each other.

Gil began her acting career as a child actor and made her debut at the age of 9. Later, in 1978, she was featured as a lead in Bubot na Bayabas film opposite Ronald Bregendahl.

She also appeared in films like City After Dark, Salawahan, Ito Ba Ang Ating Mga Anak and Sugar Daddy.

Gil also appeared in 1980s film Manila by Night, Oro, Plata, Mata in 1982, and as Lavinia Arguelles in Bituing Walang Ninging in 1985.

It was the film where she had that famous dialogue, “you’re nothing but a second-rate, trying hard copycat!”

In the year 1994, she took a break from acting to focus on her family but 11-years later she made her comeback with Sugatang Puso. Her last Tv appearance was in 2021 in a show called Legal Wives.

Gil is survived by 3 children, Jay Eigenmann, Bianca Rogoff, and Raphael Rogoff. Cherie Gil was married to Rony Rogoff, who is a violinist and they both had two children and their names are Bianca and Raphael.

Jay meanwhile was with her relationship with Leonardo Martinez.
