Danushka Gunathilaka is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who plays as a top-order batter in all forms of the game. He has also been occasionally sidelined due to disciplinary issues.
Danushka Gunathilaka is a talented allrounder with a first-class high-score of 152 and best-bowling figures of 6-70.
He made his ODI debut against West Indies in 2015 and has made one ODI century.
His Test debut came two years later against India at Galle.

As per a report by CNN, the Australian police stated that, the cricketer was arrested late in Saturday after he was charged with rape.
As per the same report, he was arrested from a hotel where he was staying with his team.
For those who are unversed let us tell you, the top-order batter was ruled out earlier from the T20 World Cup because of an injury, however, he stayed on with his team.
Now the Sri Lankan team, who have lost to England and ended their chance in the World Cup, has reportedly returned back without him.
Danushka Gunathilaka, who’s a professional Sri Lankan cricketer plays as the top batter in all games. The 31 year old is a Buddhist by religion and is unmarried.
He was born in Panadura, Sri Lanka, on March 17, 1991. The cricketer has completed his graduation from Mahanama College in Colombo.
He is also known as one of 33 cricketers who received a National Contract from SLC (Sri Lanka Cricket) for 2018-2019 season.
However, soon enough he was suspended by the SLC from all international games in 2019 after they found out he had breached several codes of conduct.
Previously, Danushka had made headlines when he was caught up in a heated argument with Afghanistan’s bowler, Rashid Khan during a match between the two countries in the Super Fours leg of the Asia Cup 2022.
The incident, which took place on Sept 3, happened after the opponent’s spinner was spotted having a conversation with the batsman after Gunathilaka hit Khan for a boundary.
During that game, Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan with a score of 175/5.
The cricketer is quite famous for being the centre of controversies. Though most of these controversies are related to his breach of codes of conduct and usage of offensive language.
For instance, previously, in March 2021, he was penalized by ICC, due to the violation of Level 1 of ICC Code of Conduct.
