Golf pro Gene Siller was killed Saturday after a person drove a truck into Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Georgia, and shot him.

“All of us at the GSGA are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred earlier today at Pinetree CC. Our thoughts and prayers are with Gene Siller’s family and friends,” the Georgia State Golf Association tweeted.

Cobb County police spokeswoman Shenise Barner told Shaddi Abusaid of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that officers are still “in the preliminary stages of the investigation.” No suspect has been apprehended or identified.

According to the Journal-Constitution, it appears the unidentified man drove his truck onto hole No. 18 and then got stuck.

Siller went over to see what happened, at which point he was shot and killed.

“Tragedy has stricken the Georgia Section PGA in the loss of our Member, Gene Siller.

Thoughts and prayers for his family and the Pinetree Country Club family,” the Georgia PGA tweeted.

Siller is survived by his wife and two children.

The suspect charged in the July 3 triple homicide at the Pinetree Country Club golf course has been arrested a number of times in recent years on charges stemming from shooting, battery, drug and speeding cases, but has not spent much time behind bars, records show.

Gene Siller was a golf pro from Kennesaw, Georgia, who was shot and killed on the golf course at Pinetree Country Club. He was murdered on the 10th hole of the golf course on Saturday, July 4, 2021.

He was 41 years old.

Siller was married and had two children.

He attended Purdue University.

According to Gwinnett Daily Post, Siller was previously a golf pro in Gwinnett County, where he was director of golf and head golf pro at Summit Chase Country Club. He also previously worked at St. Ives Country Club.

Cobb County police responded to a report of a person shot around 2:20 p.m. and discovered Siller on the green of the 10th hole at the Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Georgia, the police department said in a statement Sunday.”

The gunman drove his truck into a sand trap and shot and killed Siller when he approached the vehicle. That’s according to a Facebook post from a country club member, who claimed Siller was shot “five times at point range,” but it hasn’t been confirmed by authorities.

Then, the two additional bodies were discovered.

Siller was shot and killed on the golf course at Pinetree Country Club.

In 2007, he started competing in Georgia’s Professional Golfer Association (PGA) Section golfing tournaments. He finished 10th in the Assistants’ Championship at the Governors Towne Club in Acworth, Georgia on September 17, 2007.

On May 27, 2008, he finished 10th at the Cleveland Golf/Club Car Pro-Assistant Championship in the Cherokee Town and Country Club-South in Atlanta, Georgia.

On September 20, 2010, he finished 34th in the Assistants’ Championship in the Achasta Gold Club in Dahlonega, Georgia.

He finished 13th in the Player of the Year in the Georgia Open, which took place at The Legends at Chateau El in Braselton, Georgia from August 2-5, 2012, and 15th in the GPGA Professional Championship at The Standard Club in Johns Creek on October 2, 2012.
