Despite identifying as a Muslim, Minhaj considers himself as “non-dogmatic” and has expressed his struggles with various Islamic beliefs and practices.
In January 2015, Minhaj married Beena Patel, whom he had met in college. Beena received a Doctor of Public Health in 2013 and has since worked with homeless patients and is management consultant for MedAmerica.
According to Minhaj in his comedy special The King’s Jester, he and his wife dated for 10 years before he proposed to her.
