Justin Narayan is a resident of City Beach Australia, he is the first generation of his Fijian-Indian family born in Australia, Narayan has his roots in Southern India.

He began developing an interest in cooking from a very young age, in an interview with a local news publication Justin revealed how cooking inspired him.

“It was on after school at 4 pm,” and added “My family was also big entertainers who always had people coming over for dinner,” he said.

Narayan’s early inspiration came from watching Iain Hewitson’s TV show called Huey’s Cooking Adventures, while speaking to the news outlet Justin revealed that one day he wanted to run a food truck or open a restaurant featuring the South Indian flavors, he said.

At the age of 13, he began cooking and his biggest inspiration was his mother, Justin cooking style is heavily influenced by Fijian and Indian heritage.

In the MasterChef Australia Season 13, he was one of the contestants and over the period he won the judges with his performance and reached the grand finale with 51 points.

On July 13th, 2021, Justin in the finale earned a total score of 125 points and competed against Pete Campbell and Kishwar Chowdhury, but Narayan was crowned as the winner for MasterChef Australia Season 13. With this victory, Justin Narayan became the second Indian-origin to win the trophy, previously Sashi Cheliah took home the trophy in 2018.

In the cooking show, Narayan impressed the judge’s Andy Allen, Melissa Leong, and Jock Zonfrillo with dishes like Charcoal Chicken with Toum, Indian Chicken Curry, Chicken Tacos, and Flatbread and Pickle Salad.

Justin Narayan (born c.1994) is an Australian youth pastor and television cook of Indian and Fijian-Indian heritage.

He is the winner of MasterChef Australia 2021.

Narayan plans to use his prize on $250 000 to extend his training.

His plans include having a food truck or restaurant featuring the Indian flavours he grew up eating, with some profits going to helping feed and educate children living in the slums of India.
