Cawthorn faced one of the worst ordeals which changed his life significantly, while returning from a 2014 spring break trip in Florida he met with an accident, brushing shoulders with the cold hands of death!
His friend who was driving fell asleep at the wheel and crashed their vehicle luckily, he survived but was left partially paralyzed; he now uses a wheelchair.
The accident consequently derailed his plans of pursuing a career in the military.
He had won a nomination to the United States Naval Academy from Congressman Meadows, as well as a full Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship from the United States Marine Corps.
